Safety at home when behaviour may cause harm
This guide is for situations in which a child may hurt themselves or somebody else, damage property, leave a safe place or be at risk from another person. It will help you decide what to do during an incident, what to put in a family safety plan and what information to take to a GP or another professional.

If somebody's life is at risk, a serious injury has happened, or you do not think you can keep everyone safe, call 999 or go to A&E. For an urgent mental-health problem that is not an emergency, contact your GP urgently or use the urgent service for your UK nation. The details are set out in Where to get urgent help.
