Deep Guide
Screens, gaming and digital life
Screens can provide entertainment, friendship, creativity, information and a dependable way to rest after a demanding day. They can also interrupt sleep, keep an argument going or take up time a child needs for other parts of life. The same device may do several of these things.

There is no evidence-based number of hours that tells every family when screen use is healthy or harmful. The UK Chief Medical Officers found that the research was not conclusive enough to set an optimal amount. They advised families to look at whether screens interfere with sleep, family activities and other parts of a child's health and development.
